Cristiano Ronaldo – the most charitable player in the world- meets his 3 year old fan Haider – victim of Beirut bombings.
On Friday, Portuguese hero and Real Madrid star, Cristiano Ronaldo gave a warm welcome to Haider – a three year old Lebanese boy who lost both of his parents in an attack claimed by Islamic State in Beirut.
Real Madrid said in a statement posted on its website, “Haidar, a three-year-old child who in November lost both of his parents in bombings in Beirut, saw his dream come true on Friday when he was given the opportunity to meet his idol, Cristiano Ronaldo.”
A picture was posted on Real Madrid’s website in which Ronaldo – wearing a suit and tie – was seen hugging the boy.
Haider wore a Real Madrid shirt with his name printed on it and Ronaldo’s jersey number, 7, on the back.
Jersey was sent to him earlier by Florentino Perez – President of Real Madrid CF – who also gave Haider a tour of club’s trophy room.
Haider will also attend Real Madrid’s match against Rayo Vallecano, this Sunday.
Club’s further statement said that after the brutal attack on Lebanon, Haider’s photograph in Real Madrid jersey came to global attention. Since then the club was trying hard to get in touch with him. So they could arrange a meeting with his favorite player Cristiano Ronaldo.
“Following the brutal attack in the Lebanese capital last month, the story of Haider, photographed in a Real Madrid shirt after surviving the massacre, came to global attention”, club’s statement said.
“And since then, the club had been ceaseless in its efforts to get in contact with him and arrange for his dream of meeting Cristiano,” it added.
On 12th November, 2015 ISIS attacked a busy shopping street in Burj Al-Barajneh, a Beirut suburb where Hezbollah – a Shiite movement – is popular.
